Ava's time at AIMS

At Casebrook we are SOOOO proud of Ava for representing the school at the annual AIMS Games. This is a huge achievement!

Ava has written a blog post to tell us about her time:

On Friday at 4:45pm, my Mum, Dad and I drove to the airport. When we got there we met up with my friend and her family. We had a little bit to eat and a little chat before we took off. We boarded the plane and that is when our Journey began. We arrived in Tauranga and has sushi for lunch! The next day we went for a walk around Mount Maunganui, it was a 40 minute walk, it was fun to see all of the views. Then we went to a cafe to have lunch! I got a bacon buttie. After that we got to see the course where we would run. We got a bag with ice packs and our race numbers inside. Soon after we arrived at the Tauranga Hot Springs and swam there for about an hour.

Race Day:

Today was day, it was the biggest event that I had ever been too. Take your marks...get set, BANG! The gun went and we were off. I finished the race and got 22nd. In my opinion it wasn't close to my best race and I thought I could have done better, but everyone was saying it was just my first year, and I will know better next year. After the race my friends Mum brought me a T-shirt. Then I got to see my big sister that I hadn't seen for so long. Together we went to Macca's for lunch and got to play at Timezone. Then my friends Mum picked me up and we went to watch the AIMS Games opening ceremony.

I said my goodbyes to Tauranga even though we were only there for 2 days. We also got Subway for dinner! I can't wait to go back next year. It was SO much fun!!!!
