Community Heroes

This term our school-wide Inquiry is based around Community Heroes.

Today Room 5 & 6 had a panel of heroes from our community come in and talk about their lives. We were super excited as all of the panel members were parents of Room 5. It was awesome for us to hear about their lives!

We are looking forward to using the interviewing skills we have learnt to carry out our own inquiry about our very own hero.

Thank you once again to our wonderful guests, we found it really interesting!

Science Badge!

Lots of students in Room 5 have completed their Science Badge this term. More students are yet to have their photo taken.

Cooper completed the Home Chemistry badge
Bryn completed the Sports Science badge
Ben completed the Human Biology badge

Well done boys, a fantastic achievement!

Reading Update

We have finished our class novel, Refugee!

In groups, we sequenced the main events of the novel focusing on one of the main characters Mahmoud and his journey from Aleppo to Germany.

Each group is now creating something that represents their part of the novel. Here are some photos of us getting creative!

Next week we will be coding the Sphero and putting it together.

Health - SPEC

Students in the health rotation for SPEC have been looking at Gender Stereotypes.
We discussed how stereotypes change over time and are often influenced by trends, media, cultures and countries. Here are some of our collages that represent gender stereotypes in our society.

Most importantly we also looked at overcoming stereotypes!!

Casebrook Challenge

Jordy created this amazing bird house for his Casebrook Challenge. Our caretaker Roger has hung it up in the tree opposite our classroom!

Muffin Time!!

Students who are in the cooking rotation this term for technology made some delicious muffins! Hopefully they made it home to share with you!

P.E

This term our PE focus has been striking and fielding. We have been doing our PE programme with Room 6 and each session consists of a warm-up drill and two rotations. These rotations focus on a particular striking or fielding skill. Our main focus has been using the correct technique when throwing, catching, batting and fielding.

Attitude Presentation

We are back in business with our blog as I have fixed my phone!

A few weeks ago we had Rory from Attitude who presented to us about Friendship. It was a very entertaining and informative speech about different types of friendships, starting new friendships and keeping friendships.

REP Video

Our school-wide focus for REP until the end of the term is showing respect during break times. Room 5 & 6 were in charge of making a video for the school.
