Friday Good Vibes - Term 3, Week 1.

Well done to the three students who received Friday Good Vibes. 
Ava received hers for a great first week at Casebrook, we love having you in our classroom.
Melad got his award for his great leadership in our basketball PE unit.
Rebecca was recognised for her positive attitude towards her new reading tasks.

P.E

Today we started our large ball skills unit where we are focusing on Basketball. Today we learnt how to pass correctly.  We focused on the chest pass and the bounce pass. We also learnt the star drill which helped us to practice passing like a game setting.

Publishers - Chinese Cinderella

The Publishers created a poster about the Chinese custom of bound feet yesterday.  This was a concept that the group came across while reading their novel Chinese Cinderella.

Production Dance

Today we had our first production dance practice with our instructor. It was great to see everyone participating and enjoying themselves. 

Who would've known we all love to dance!!!

Students visiting from Ancheon, Korea.

We are very lucky to have Eunchae Han (Ava), joining us in Room 1 from Ancheon, Korean. She will be staying with Brooklyn until the 9th of August. 

Eunchae will be attending ESOL classes in the morning then joining Room 1 for the rest of the day. 

We hope she has a great time here at Casebrook and exploring Christchurch.

Novel Study

In Room 1 we are starting our novel study. Each group has a different novel that they will read and complete comprehension tasks on. Stay tuned for some of our great work.

Writing

Last term we finished off our explanation writing. We looked at how volcanoes erupt or how cyclones are formed. 

We were focussing on having the correct structure, topic specific language, time sequencing language and having a diagram to assist our explanation. 

Assembly Awards.

Well done Ava and Sienna who received awards in our assembly last term.
Ava was recognised for her fantastic efforts at the Canterbury AIMS Cross Country.
Sienna had an outstanding performance at the Canterbury AIMS Gymnastics.

Go girls!  

Ava got 2nd at the Canterbury AIMS cross country last term! 

Sienna received 1st place on the floor and 3rd place on the bar at the Canterbury AIMS Gymnastic competition. 

REP Badge

Congratulations to Travis who received his Respect REP badge at the end of last term. A really respectful dude and a great role model for us all.
